See and Feel the Excitement of Large-Scale Flight Operations
Located next to the end of runway 18L/36R just across from the US Airways commuter terminal, the museum is a fantastic place from which to observe aircraft take-offs and landings at Charlotte. You will not be disappointed with the steady and fast-paced tempo of flight operations here in Charlotte. Throughout the day there is a steady procession of aircraft of all types. 727s, 737s,A-300s, A-320s, A-330s, A-340s, DC-9s, MD-lls, regional jets, and a wide range of private and corporate aircraft make this an exciting place to be. In addition to the civilian traffic, North Carolina Air National Guard C-130s and other military traffic are also viewable from time to time.
In order to make your visit more enjoyable, the museum has also installed a radio(118.1 mhz) which enables you to listen to the radio traffic between the control tower and aircraft landing and taking off on runways 18L/36R and 23/5. Depending upon the wind, aircraft will position and hold directly in front of the Museum before takeoff making this location especially ideal for photography.
